APPLICATION

 

Applications are open to individual artistic researchers and research groups working across music, sound, performance, and related interdisciplinary fields.

 

Applicants are invited to consider how their projects may benefit from an extended process involving:

 

– Presentation and contextualization

– Peer and mentor exchange

– Development of research questions

– Methodological testing

– Artistic experimentation

– Historical and theoretical inquiry

– Documentation

– Critical reflection

– Writing and exposition

– Public presentation

– Potential publication development

 

A strong application should make legible:

 

– The project’s central field of inquiry

– Its current stage of development

– The artistic practices, materials, or situations through which – it proceeds

– The methods presently being used or considered

– The project’s relation to relevant artistic and intellectual contexts

– The questions or difficulties requiring further development

– The potential value of participation in the residency

– The forms through which the research might be presented publicly

 

Applicants are not expected to provide final conclusions or a fully stabilized methodology. The residency is specifically designed to support development. Applications should, however, demonstrate a serious commitment to inquiry, critical reflection, sustained participation, and exchange with the work of others.
