Participating research may result in one or several interconnected forms, including:

– Research presentations

– Experimental lectures

– Workshops and laboratories

– Digital or multimodal expositions

– Research publications

 

These forms are not treated as interchangeable containers for identical content. Each produces different relations among researcher, material, method, audience, argument, and experience.

Participants are encouraged to consider which form—or constellation of forms—is most appropriate to the specificity of the inquiry.

 

One project may require a performance and written reflection. Another may depend on a score, recordings, and comparative analysis. A technological inquiry may require a prototype, demonstration, technical documentation, and critical exposition. A collaborative project may need to present both its artistic outcomes and the process through which roles, decisions, and knowledge were negotiated.

 

The residency supports this plurality while asking participants to articulate why particular forms are necessary and how they function within the research.
